Let us shake our rumps and eat cupcakes
What to do in times of complete and utter dissappointement and disbelief.
Dear ones,
An invitation. We welcome you to join us for our last show in 2024. Music is one of the best ways to soothe and celebrate our depth of humanity. And this one is going to be F-U-N. I have some surprises in store for our last show of the year. New songs, a flair of holiday festivity, sugar, and perhaps one or two unexpected guests…if you missed the release, hop on board now! I think the room will be full and filled with joyful love. And I want you to be there.

During her life, my Mom had a pair of cowgirl boots. She would wear them with a matching long Southwestern skirt and vest my sister had picked out at a fancy shop on Railroad Street in Gt. Barrington (one of those stores my Mom shunned as it existed for out of towners with a lot of money). The fleece material was donned with little bucking cowboys on every square inch. She’d wear turquoise earrings and a matching turquoise necklace my father brought home from Arizona. This was her go to outfit for at least a decade when she would go out to hear music or see friends. There have been a few nights in my life when I joined her dancing with a friend of mine who was in town visiting. One night we went to hear The BTU’s with Steve Ide and Bob Mcveety out in the Berkshires. I was in my early twenties. Max, Bob’s grown musician son, had flown in from California and was joining in on drums. Jordan Loder, the son of my beloved children’s choir teacher Nancy Loder, opened the night in sequence blue pants. It was a local moment of pure joy and my Mom danced for HOURS. Our feet hurt all weekend. And still today, when I recall this night with the friend that joined us, it is a memory that brings us enormous comfort and a sense of well being. Music is maybe the only thing I can think of that connects through all dimensions. It passes from one human to another in a completely unexplainable way, only to be digested through all the senses and arriving/dwelling within our inner life in a completely new way. It is magic. It is transcendent. And wouldn’t it be nice to have more experiences of transcendence in this very moment? I digress. But please come and let me give you all the feelings, share new songs, surprise you with guest musicians you’ll adore, and feed you sugar. Here’s a recent video from our night opening for The Sweetback Sisters at the beautifully renovated and re-envisioned Iron Horse. Filmed and edited by Lucas Fappiano (@lucas_fappiano) and Colin Hodgson (@hodgsonmedia).
My mama loved her red cowgirl boots, her turquoise jewelry and dancing too... like so much. Feeling kindred to the max in this moment. And putting your show in the calendar!!
That was absolutely beautiful.
